Pearland Announces Reopening Plans For Recreation Center, Playgrounds, And More

The City of Pearland recently announced plans for reopening city facilities that will go into effect on Friday, September 11th.

The Recreation Center and Natatorium, playgrounds, and basketball courts will reopen on Friday with modified hours, a city news release said.

The following week, the Delores Fenwick Nature Center will open on September 15th with modified hours as well.

“We are so excited to reopen and welcome all of our members back to enjoy the facilities.” Said Dr. Chris Orlea, Director of Pearland Parks and Recreation. He continued, “one of the most difficult challenges we have faced is not being able to interact with the community members that come to the Rec Center regularly. It has taken a lot of work, but we have figured out a way that we think allows us to safely get the ball rolling towards reopening.”

The press release continues:

Memberships have been suspended during the closure. Upon first visit back membership will be reactivated,1 and a credit will be issued to account for the current reduced schedule and service offering required to meet COVID-19 safety parameters. For non-members, memberships and punch pass options will be available for purchase.

Days of operation will be Monday through Friday 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-6 p.m., with Sunday set aside as a day for facilities to close and staff to clean all member-facing amenities for the upcoming week of use.
