Last night, Governor Greg Abbott via Twitter suggested that he may allow alcohol-to-go sales to continue indefinitely.
“Alcohol-to-go sales can continue after May 1,” Abbott said. “From what I hear from Texans, we may just let this keep on going forever.”
When restaurants reopen in a limited capacity on Friday, May 1st, those that have offered alcohol-to-go will be allowed to continue those sales, according to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
“TABC staff is reviewing the governor’s report and working with his office to seek further guidance on the specifics of the plan. We will continue updating this page with directives that will help businesses reopen safely under Gov. Abbott’s new executive order,” TABC states on its website.
