Fort Bend County inmates sew masks to fight coronavirus

Inmates at the Fort Bend Detention Center are coming together to make masks to help their community battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Fort Bend County Detention’s sewing program is a team of inmates who enjoy sewing.  The group is using their talents to make masks for all inmates, jail employees, and will soon distribute masks to essential county employees.

The masks the inmates are making are not N95 masks but are face coverings that are in accordance with recent recommendations from health officials.

Since April 6, the group has made 100 masks per day.
