Stay at home order for Galveston County to begin March 23

Galveston County residents have been ordered to stay home except for work and essential errands.

The order suspends all public or private gatherings of any number unless, in a household, restaurant delivery and pickup service are still permissible.  Religious services may only be online. Grocery stores may remain open. All elective surgery and dental must be postponed.

The city of Santa Fe announced the order on their website.

The county is expected to release the official order Monday evening.

On their website, City of Santa Fe wrote:

The COVID – 19 Emergency Update

On March 23, 2020, the Counties leadership met, and we are all in agreement that the County is at a tipping point!  If we don’t do something now, the cases of COVID-19 will skyrocket, and medical facilities will not be able to support the needs of our citizens.

The County is issuing a Stay at Home order effective the 24th of March, at midnight and will continue through midnight on the 3rd of April.   100% of the County’s Mayors, are in support of the “Stay at Home” order and its intent.

As a citizen of the City of Santa Fe, I ask you to not go out for social occasions.  Stay in your family group within your home.
