Over 372,000 people around the world have been diagnosed with the novel coronavirus — and the World Health Organization says the pandemic is accelerating.
“More than 300,000 cases of COVID-19 have now been reported to WHO, from almost every country in the world,” says Dr. Tedros with the WHO. “The pandemic is accelerating. It took 67 days from the 1st reported case to reach the first 100K cases, 11 days for the second 100k, and just 4 days from the third 100k.”
In the U.S., there are more than 41,700 diagnosed cases of the disease caused by the respiratory virus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
At least 573 Americans have died and more than 16, 381 have died across the globe.
New York, the hardest-hit state from the pandemic, reported 157 fatalities and more than 20, 875 cases have been confirmed – an increase by 5, 707 since Sunday.
