“We were awoken by the smell of a burning paper at 1 a.m. To our surprise, the house was on fire…we have lost everything.”
A Pearland family whose house burned to the ground two weeks before Christmas is getting a helping hand after a GoFundMe page was established to help them get back on their feet.
“We jumped out of the porch right away. Our first thought was our 79-year-old mother who was left inside. Rommel broke her bedroom window and pulled her out. We were helpless and devastated for we were not able to save any valuables such as mother’s diabetic medicines, clothes, wallets, documents, laptops, passports, jewelry, car keys, etc. as the whole house was engulfed with fire in less than 15 minutes. It was heartbreaking for us to watch our house burning which we built together from the ground up. To make matters worse the house was also uninsured, as such, we have lost everything.”
“The immediate funds will be used to pay for my mother’s diabetic medicine and supplies as the insurance company does not cover refills/replacements for recently filled medicine.”
As of Friday, December 27, the fundraiser pulled in just over $8,300 for the family.
