Area residents are hosting a lunch fundraiser for GOP activist Christopher Harvey who has been experiencing congestive heart failure and was recently placed on a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) to keep him alive while he waits for a heart transplant. In addition to his heart issues, Chris is awaiting surgery to have tissue removed from several places on his body to allow new tissue to grow.
His wife, Anna, is now his full-time caretaker and learning how to adjust their lives in order to live with an LVAD patient.
The event will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 6 at Pearland Church of Christ (2217 Grand Boulevard). The day will begin with a community prayer for Chris at 11:30am lead by some of our local pastors. Red beans and rice with sausage will be served during the event and curbside service will be available for takeout orders. Ladies from across the county will be bringing homemade cornbread to go with the meal. In addition, there will be a silent auction, live auction, T-shirt purchases and donations will be accepted.
A raffle has also been set up with three chances to win one of the following items:
- Custom Astros Grill donated by Judge Matt Sebesta
- Astros v/s Angels tickets donated by Gary Shrum
- Remington 870 shotgun donated by Chase Burgin
A community is said to be judged by the citizens it produces and by how a community responds to its citizens in need. Please come help spread some joy into this family’s life by making this event part of your July 4th holiday plans.
